Yes. However, common water safety guidelines are always recommended (eg. personal flotation devices/life jackets, boats with paddles, informing others of your travel plans, etc). August tends to have lower river flows which should make for a leisurely paddle and the safest conditions.
Your safety is a priority. Event organizers have worked closely with Fire Rescue, a certified river outfitter, and emergency response teams to consider the safety of all of our guests.
You will be provided with the following:
• Personal flotation device/life jacket
• Bailer
• Safety whistle
• Paddling instructions
We will have people on the river throughout the length of the float to keep an eye on all of our paddlers. In the event of a significant storm event or abnormal water levels, the event organizers may make the decision to cancel the event.
No. Due to the number of people and volume of equipment at our event sites, it would be impossible to adequately monitor to ensure safety standards were met. If you wish to join us on the river with your own vessel, please use alternate put in and take out locations.
Yes. Please bring either a printed or electronic ticket with you as well as a signed copy of the required waivers.
However, we have established safety protocols for river levels and extreme weather. If either requires that the event be cancelled, you will be notified via the email you provided on registration.
Here’s what happens:
• You will be shuttled to Terwillegar Park
• Each guest will be fitted with a personal flotation device/life jacket.
• You will pick up your raft and carry it to the river’s edge
• Paddling instructions will be provided prior to launch
• It will take up to 2 hours depending on how much you paddle
• There will be people at the take out area to help you land your raft
Small and large rafts float from Terwillegar Park to Laurier Park and depending on river levels and amount of paddling the trip takes 1 ¼ – 1 ½ hours. Our large Voyageur Canoes depart and return to Laurier Park and take approximately 40 mins.
Participants should plan to arrive at Laurier Park approximately 15 minutes prior to their scheduled float time. We also recommend allowing time at before and/or after your float to enjoy the variety of land activities and entertainment we have planned.
Please go to the Edmonton waiver page for the waiver you are required to sign. All participants must sign the waiver prior to partaking in any on water activities.

- Once at Voyageur, each guest is to show their ticket (paper or electronic copy) and sign in at the registration tent
- At registration each guest must sign a waiver for the raft float before receiving a wristband that grants you access to the raft
- Each guest will be fitted with a personal flotation device/lifejacket at the raft safety station
- At the shoreline you will pick up your raft and carry it to the river’s edge
- Paddling instructions will be provided prior to launch
- It will take up to 1hr depending on how much you paddle
- There will be people at the takeout location to help you land your raft
- You will be shuttled back to Voyageur Park to enjoy the on land activities
Things to Know Before You Float
- All EPCOR RiverFest attendees must park at 17 Athabasca Avenue in Devon, where a shuttle will take you to Voyageur Park
- Rafters will float to Lions Campground, where you will be shuttled back to Voyageur Park
- Your rafting fee includes: personal flotation device/life jacket, shuttle and raft
- Rafts hold up to 4 adults & 1 child
- Max weight per raft is 1200 lbs (including cargo)
- No solo riders please
- Groups of three or less may be paired up. To guarantee a private rate, book four seats
- Children must be 6 years old and over 30 lbs
- Children under 18 must be accompanied by a guardian over the age of 18
- You may get wet; avoid jeans
- Quick drying clothes and water shoes are recommended
- Come prepared for the weather conditions
- No alcohol or pets are permitted
- No refunds will be provided
- You will park at Athabasca Ave and be shuttled to Voyageur Park

Things to Know Before You Float
- All EPCOR RiverFest attendees must park at 17 Athabasca Avenue in Devon, where a shuttle will take you to Voyageur Park
- River Tubers will float to Lions Campground, where you will be shuttled back to Voyageur Park
- Your tube fee includes: personal flotation device/life jacket, shuttle and tube
- This is a group activity shared with other ticket purchasers in the same time slot
- Adult tube is 44″ – includes a back rest and a cup holder
- Child tube is 38″ – includes a backrest and a solid bottom
- Child tube minimum age requirement is 4, and up to age 10
- Child tube weight requirement is 30 lbs to 90 lbs
- Children under 10 must be tethered to an adult tube
- Children over 10 and/or 90lbs are required to purchase adult tube
- Solo riders only – 1 person per/tube
- You may get wet; avoid jeans
- Quick drying clothes and water shoes are recommended
- Come prepared for the weather conditions
- No alcohol or pets are permitted
- No refunds will be provided

- Brief inland safety and instructional information is provided prior to launch including a guide on the water (there will be 1 guide for every 6 people)
- It will take up to 45 minutes depending on how much you paddle
- There will be people at the takeout location to help you land your paddle board
- You will be shuttled back to Voyageur Park to enjoy on land activities
Things to Know Before You Float
- Your fee includes: all equipment including personal flotation device/life jacket (mandatory),and SUP board
- Brief inland safety and instructional information provided including a guide on water (there will be 1 guide for every 6 people)
- No previous experience necessary (option to sit on paddleboard)
- Children must be 12 years old
- Maximum weight 250 lbs
- Solo riders only – 1 person per/board
- Come prepared for the weather conditions
- No alcohol or pets are permitted
- No refunds will be provided
- You will park at Athabasca Ave and be shuttled to Voyager Park
- Once at Voyageur Park, each guest is to show their ticket (paper or electronic copy) and sign in at the registration tent
- At registration each guest must sign a waiver for river clinic before receiving a wristband that grants you access
- Each guest will be fitted with a personal flotation device/lifejacket at the Aquabatics station
- Brief inland safety and instructional information is provided prior to launch including a guide on the water
- It will take up to 2 hours for this clinic
- There will be people at the takeout location to help you land
- You will be shuttled back to Voyager Park to enjoy on land activities

Small rafts float from Voyageur Park to Lions Campground and depending on river levels and amount of paddling will take up to 1 hour.
Inner Tube float from Voyager Park to Lions Campground depending on river levels will take approximately 1 hour.
Fishing Clinic will take approximately 2 hours.
Kayak River clinic will take approximately 2 hours.
Paddle Board float from Voyager Park to Lions Campground depending on river levels and amount of paddling will take approximately 45 minutes.
All Devon EPCOR RiverFest participants park at 17 Athabasca Avenue and take the shuttle to Voyageur Park. Parking will be limited so arriving by foot or bike is greatly appreciated.
Participants should plan to arrive at the shuttle approximately 20 minutes prior to their scheduled float time. We also recommend allowing time at before and/or after your float to enjoy the variety of land activities and entertainment we have planned.
Please go to the Devon waivers page for the waivers you are required to sign. All on-water participants must sign the general Devon waiver, plus an additional waiver if they are participating in either clinic, paddleboarding or river tubing.
